When Life Moves With You

10 August 2026

There are seasons in life when everything seems unusually quiet.

Nothing is necessarily wrong. There is simply less happening. Fewer surprises. Fewer answers. Days pass without much changing and for a while, you wonder whether you are standing still while everyone else seems to be moving forward.

Then, sometimes without warning, something shifts.

A conversation leads somewhere unexpected. An opportunity appears. You meet the right person at the right time. Something you had almost stopped hoping for suddenly works out. One good thing seems to arrive after another and for a little while, life feels almost suspiciously generous.

I call it a ”lucky streak”.

We rarely know what to do with these periods.

When life is difficult, we become very aware of it. We analyse, question, search for reasons. But when things begin to fall into place, we often move too quickly to notice. We accept the good news, celebrate briefly and immediately begin wondering what comes next.

Perhaps we should pause there too.

Because life is not a constant upward movement. It has its own rhythm- stretches of stillness followed by movement, uncertainty followed by clarity, waiting followed by unexpected momentum.

The quiet seasons can feel particularly uncomfortable because they are difficult to measure. There is no obvious evidence that anything is happening.

But perhaps stillness is not the absence of movement. Perhaps some things simply require a period in which nothing appears to change before they can change completely.

And then there are those strange stretches when everything seems to happen at once.

You start to wonder if the universe has finally remembered your address.

The timing is right. The doors seem easier to open. People appear at precisely the moment you need them. Coincidences begin to feel less like coincidences. You find yourself saying ‘Maybe things really are working out”.

These moments can be intoxicating but they can also teach us something important: life was never meant to be predictable enough for us to control its rhythm.

There will be periods when you feel as though you are pushing against everything.

And there will be periods when you barely have to push at all.

Neither tells the complete story.

The mistake is believing that the quiet means you have been forgotten, or that the lucky streak means you have finally figured life out.

Both are temporary. That does not make either one meaningless.

There is something beautiful about learning to appreciate a season without demanding that it become permanent. To enjoy things going well without immediately becoming afraid of losing them. To sit in a quiet period without assuming that quietness means failure.

Maybe life is less like a straight road and more like weather.

Some days are heavy and still.

Some arrive with unexpected light.

Some change within an hour.

And occasionally, everything seems to move in your favour at once.

When that happens, perhaps the only thing to do is notice.

Don’t question it too quickly. Don’t search for the catch. Don’t rush towards the next thing.

Let yourself experience the rare feeling of life moving with you.

And when it becomes quiet again, remember that quiet is not necessarily the end of something.

Sometimes it is simply the space between one season and the next.
